The Survival Within

It feels like home. Dark and gore, light and misterious, blood and cruelty. The Evil within made me jump in the hype for horror, survival, get-out-of-hell games.

Only if the story and the main character had gotten a deeper background, or maybe more expressions and plot twists. The main storyline remains always in the mist.

Since the beginning I felt like playing a new Resident Evil 4, something like RE4 “The Not-Sequel Sequel”. The RE4 for the new generation (when looking to the original RE4 generation).

I hope that the DLCs that are to come bring some more enlightenment over the story.

And what a long game! Near the end you start to ask “is this the final chapter?”. Maybe the repetitive fights and mechanics are not helping towards the big finale.

The best thing of this evil game I can say for sure is the art. Oh how gory and filthy it looks like. Blood everywhere, dark nights, mysterious outside landscapes, corpses all around the floor, very ugly monsters. All the horror package is here, and that’s what hooked me playing.

Sometimes I fell like wanting to live a real terror nightmare to make my nervous system and my instincts know what is to be alive.
